My name is Darlene Sebala and I am a junior at Leuzinger High School in Hawthorne, California. I have been nominated to represent my school and community at the National Youth Leadership Forum on National Security this fall in Washington, D.C.
The Forum brings exceptional high school students from around the country to an interactive program. My nomination was based on exemplary academic performance and my 3.0 GPA at Leuzinger High School. Attending this program will enable me to develop my leadership skills and reach my career goals.
Imagine if you had been given this opportunity for a life-changing experience when you were in high school and were unable to participate for lack of funds. That is why I am writing to you today. Attending this Forum is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me.
My participation in the Forum depends on whether I can raise $2, 000 in sponsorships. The Forum tuition is $1, 400 and my travel to the Forum will cost $450. I am hoping that I can get a sponsorship to assist me with all or part of these costs. My tuition must be paid no later than July 13, 2007.
